Om Padma is an ethical yoga lifestyle company from London and Cornwall, bringing bright colours and bold graphics to yoga accessories, inspired by global and spiritual journeys, surf and snowboard culture.

Om Padma started life as a stall at Brick Lane market in July 2006. We evolved quickly into a yoga label and on-line boutique after becoming exclusive stockist of Orla Kiely's yoga bags.

Om Padma began sourcing directly through a women only supply chain in India in 2007. Our range of yoga bags are made by a group of seven women in Chennai, Tamil Nadu who form a co-operative. The women are paid roughly double the factory wage and work from home to fit with their family committments.

The bags are hand sewn on domestic sewing machines to boutique quality. This is a very different setting to a factory and the products are slightly quirky as a result. We like to think this is a bit like buying your fruit and veg at a greengrocer rather than a supermarket.

'Om' is the mantra of the universe. 'Padma', meaning lotus, is symbolic in Eastern culture of unfurling enlightenment and transformation.

The lotus represents being of the world, with roots in the mud of every day life, but like the flower floating above with beauty and serenity.

The Om Padma logo is based on the seven colours of the chakra system of energy in the body. The chakras are used in yoga as a tool for self inquiry, using healing vibrations to restore balance.
